Stress Reduction Skills, Increase Focus, Concentration & Mood Management
After ½ hour introduction to tai chi movements in Mr. Jay Hunt's Health Class, students in grades 9 - 12 answered the questions:
How do you feel? How would you describe tai chi to a friend? Would you be willing to be filmed?
3rd Period
I felt pretty good
I feel at peace with everything and myself. I feel good and I have a sense of comfort.
Good. I can think better.
Right now I feel calm and relaxed. It's nice to let go from everything and take time out
to relieve some stress.
I feel lighter than I have before.
I feel good.
It felt good. It felt like a little ball rolling in my hand. It's very useful.
I feel very relaxed and calm. I would describe it as a good experience.
I feel funny like a magnet.
I feel very relaxed and sleepy. Everything feels like I'm floating now. Thank you for
this experience.
To a friend, I would describe this as a very unique experience. I think that it can help one
in getting focused and clearing their minds.

4th Period

If you need calming down, I would recommend this activity.
First it felt silly and dumb. And I didn't think it would work. But it does work on
calming down.

I was tired until I did the Tai Chi. I yawned a lot during the exercise, but I'm not sleepy

I feel relaxed, in a peaceful, poised state. It was kind of like meditation, a physical
meditation. This helps a lot when you're stressed, not only because someone is "pushing your buttons."
